CMMN SNS PRJCT in Poznan

May 16, 2012 in Culture Centre Zamek, Residences 2012

Among the guests invited to Poznań by Angelo Romano, a member of the MPRA residency programme, are Laura Kalauz and Martin Schick. The performance artists’ new project “CMMN SNS PRJCT”, which combines theatre and dance, will have its premiere in Poland.

Welcome to the world of “common sense”
Kalauz/Schick’s artistic activity centers around the presence and functions of a medium as a means to unite different worldviews and emotions. Their latest performance, received enthusiastically among others by the audience of Berlin Freischwimmer festiwal and the theatergoers of Oslo, Vienna and Buenos Aires, employs a comic convention of a commercial exchange to pose questions about everything generally called common sense (which inspired the show’s title). The artists, confronting the normal and the abnormal, point to the sphere which goes beyond social relations and the economic logic of profit. Their performance reaches the limits of its defining trait – fictionality, and evolves into a space for whimsical jokes, traders’ disputes and spontaneous reactions. Read the rest of this entry →

We are looking for interns and volunteers for two teams working on Patrik Kovačovski’s and Veronika Tzekova’s residencies.

The Management Team will work on planning and implementing the schedule of the residents’ stay in Poznań. The interns will be responsible for:
- establishing contact and coordinating the cooperation between the residents and the institutions which will host the artists’ lectures, workshops, performances, etc.,
- organising workshops, meetings, lectures and other events,
- organising the final exhibition,
- providing the residents with help in purchasing or renting materials necessary for their work and exhibition,
- introducing the resident into the studio/workshop (there is a possibility to assist the residents later during their stay should the artists agree),
- providing the residents with help in adapting to Poznań and getting to know local artistic life. Read the rest of this entry →

May 2nd 2012, Poznań, Poland

It has been 7 months from my acceptation to the MPRA program and finally the time of my residency has begun. After these 7 long months of searching for funding and organizing, I arrived to Poznan on Monday April 9th by train from Vienna. The city impressed me at 1st glance. I have no idea what I was expecting, but for sure not this (whatever that is). I heard from many locals, that they would wish the city and the buildings to be cleaner and in a better shape, but I think that the actual state has much more charm and looks (if we exclude the fact, that a lot is under the construction because of the EURO 2012).
