Report from the „Parasite” workshop

On Monday, 10 September, our resident PatrikKovačovski held another workshop, this time titled “Parasite”. We met the participants at GaleriaRaczej, where Patrik, using his previous works as examples, presented the concept of sculpture as a parasite in the urban space.

The workshops had both a theoretical and practical character. We focused on the parasitic relation between the urban fabric and the parasitic sculpture, where the former is a host for the latter, and then we went for a walk along the streets of Poznan to find and photograph places where a „parasite” could find shelter. Parasitism is a relationship between populations in which an individual of one species, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the representative of the other species, the host, exploiting it as a source of food and habitat Parasitism may take the form of an individual instance of deception or a more generalized exploitation which benefits the parasitic organism. Meet the Author session with Patrik Kovačovský

The International Artists in Residence Programme together with the Institute of Slavic Philology invites everyone interested for a Meet the Author session with Patrik Kovačovsky. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday 13 September 2012, 6:00 PM at the Institute of Slavic Philology, room 285 and will be interpreted from Czech by Roman Śliwka, MA.

The meeting will present the artist’s works up to now. Kovačovský’s area of expertise is manly sculpture but he is also well-versed in other media, such as photography, film and new media.
