December 16, 2011 in Björn Drenkwitz, Erika Miklóšová, Opening

20.12.2011 godz.19 – Malingrad ul. Staszica 8/7, Poznań

The exhibition sums up the December residency of the Slovak painter Erika Miklóšová.

Erika Miklóšová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in painting. Her works can be seen during numerous exhibitions in Slovakia as well as in Germany, Switzerland and the USA.

Miklóšová’s main interest is rural landscape, which for her constitutes a realization of the ever-relevant idea of return to nature. She puts it into life using a unique individual style of painting. Nature shown in her work loses its fundamental mimetic character, transforming instead into a starting point for an abstract and expressionist composition. In the artist’s own words, recording the emotions which accompany the process of creation is more interesting for her than rendering a true-to-life landscape. Her compositions are often filled with human figures, essential to show the simultaneous unity and separation of human beings and the nature they live in. They are created with the help of a different artistic medium, a delicate contour drawing, which introduces a jarring dissonance into the lyrical, picturesque landscape.
